Discovery's chief analyst and expert witness for court appearances, Geoffrey Young possesses a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University as well as a B.A. with Honours in Economics from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Young has provided analysis in numerous economic valuations for the legal profession since 1984.

A former university teacher of economics with experience as a professional economist with the Alberta Treasury and the British Columbia Ministry of Finance, Dr. Young has participated in various economic research projects, cost-benefit studies, and major evaluations of public expenditure in Ontario and British Columbia.

Dr. Young has been qualified as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and has made over fifty court appearances.

Robert Wickson earned a double major Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and history from the University of Victoria in 1983. In 2007, Mr. Wickson began testifying in the BC Supreme Court as an economic expert.

Mr. Wickson has been an active member of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce since 1990, holding the positions of Chair of the Environment and Transportation Committees, President (2000). In 2001 he joined the Board of the BC Chamber of Commerce as the Director for District 2 Member Chambers for South Vancouver Island (2001-2002), and he became an Executive Member (2004). He was the 2006/2007 Chair of the BC Chamber.

Mr. Wickson’s previous positions include Chair of the City of Victoria’s Transportation Advisory Committee, Director of the Victoria Green Challenge Society (publisher of the Environew s), Director of Smart Growth BC, Treasurer of the Spectrum Job Search Centre, and President of IslandTransformations.org. He is currently President of the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society, President of the Gorge Tillicum Community Association, a Director of the Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society, Director of Capital Bike and Walk, and a Director of Islandtransformations.org

Christopher Braun
Mr. Braun joined the firm in October 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Victoria with a minor in Psychology (April 1992). Mr. Braun is involved in the research, calculation, and presentation of economic valuations. From his extensive experience with the firm, Mr. Braun has assisted in the development of elaborate spreadsheets used in preparing loss of earning estimates, costs of care, and other economic valuations. In addition, Mr. Braun is involved in the maintenance of the firm’s computer hardware and software.


Nick Coleman
Mr. Coleman joined the firm in January 2000. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Victoria with a minor in Economics (December 2003). Mr. Coleman is involved in the research, calculation, and presentation of economic valuations.

 


Claudia Wickson
Ms. Wickson has been with Discovery Economic Consulting since Spring, 2000. She comes to us with a background in marketing and communications (4 years at Gregson Graham Ltd.), government (1 ½ years with Corrections Branch, Ministry of Attorney General) and education advising (13 years with the Open Learning Agency).

Ms. Wickson is responsible for incoming communications, internal organization and record keeping for the office.
