	Discovery Economic Consulting has been providing economic advice to the legal community in British Columbia, Canada since 1984.   Our firm has developed many computerized methods for calculating values needed to estimate loss of earnings, costs of care, tax gross-ups, and pension valuations. Partners Geoffrey Young Discovery's chief analyst and expert witness for court appearances, Geoffrey Young possesses a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University as well as a B.A. with Honours in Economics from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Young has provided analysis in numerous economic valuations for the legal profession since 1984. A former university teacher of economics with experience as a professional economist with the Alberta Treasury and the British Columbia Ministry of Finance, Dr. Young has participated in various economic research projects, cost-benefit studies, and major evaluations of public expenditure in Ontario and British Columbia. Dr. Young has been qualified as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and has made over fifty court appearances. Resume Robert Wickson Mr. Wickson has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Victoria with a double major in Economics and History. Rob Wickson combines a variety of experience in the academic, public and private sectors. In addition to his academic work, he has been employed by the Northwest Territories Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism and by the Northwest Territorial Legislature. While completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree, he owned and operated a small business in Victoria. In 1984 Mr. Wickson began researching and preparing loss of earning estimates, costs of care, and other economic valuations. He currently is the managing partner in the firm.  Mr. Wickson has participated in additional projects such as development of a secondary school computer-based inventory system, the assessment of per student capital cost requirements, evaluation of economic development projects, the examination of Mineral Tenure Fee Structures in British Columbia, and the review of costs and revenues for the Mineral Resources Division. Mr. Wickson is the year 2000 President of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce. He has been involved with the Chamber since February 1990 including terms as the chair of the Environment and Transportation Committees. He has been appointed to City of Victoria's Advisory Planning and Transportation Committee and the Capital Regional District Waste Diversion Council as the Chamber's representative. Currently he is the Chair of the City's Advisory Transportation Committee. Mr. Wickson also represents the Chamber on the Victoria Green Challenge Society, the Bike to Work Society, and on the City Green project. Resume Bio Staff Christopher Braun Mr. Braun joined the firm in October 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Victoria with a minor in Psychology (April 1992). Mr. Braun is involved in the research, calculation, and presentation of economic valuations. From his extensive experience with the firm, Mr. Braun has assisted in the development of elaborate spreadsheets used in preparing loss of earning estimates, costs of care, and other economic valuations. In addition, Mr. Braun is involved in the maintenance of the firm’s computer hardware and software. Derek Sou Mr. Sou has been with the firm since January 1997 and prepares a variety of economic valuations. He is also responsible for the hassle-free operation of the firm’s computer network and other office machines. Mr. Sou has also improved and modernized economic and bookkeeping software, often employing the use of macros within spreadsheets and databases. He also regularly conducts research using the Web and various local libraries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Victoria (April 1992). Claudia Wickson Ms. Wickson has been with Discovery Economic Consulting since Spring, 2000. She comes to us with a background in marketing and communications (4 years at Gregson Graham Ltd.), government (1 ½ years with Corrections Branch, Ministry of Attorney General) and education advising (13 years with the Open Learning Agency). Ms. Wickson is responsible for incoming communications, internal organization and record keeping for the office.
